Individualized Family Therapy
Every family member’s story matters—healing starts when everyone feels seen and heard.
In my work with families, I start by meeting with each family member individually. This gives everyone a chance to share their story, build trust with me, and feel truly heard. Once each person feels comfortable, we come together as a family to explore patterns, strengthen connections, and create space where every voice matters. My goal is for every member to feel seen, understood, and supported as we work toward a healthier and more connected family dynamic.
Explore a couple of therapeutic modalities I draw from in my work with families.
-
Narrative therapy helps families see problems as something separate from themselves, rather than blaming one another or feeling stuck in old patterns. By exploring the stories each person tells about their experiences, families can uncover strengths, shift unhelpful narratives, and create a shared story that feels more hopeful and connected. This approach gives every family member a voice and helps them feel heard, valued, and understood, making it easier to work together toward positive change.
-
Mindfulness helps families pause, notice their thoughts and feelings, and respond more thoughtfully rather than reacting automatically. In family counseling, I guide members to practice being fully present with themselves and each other, which can reduce tension, improve communication, and create a calmer, more connected home environment. Mindfulness encourages awareness and empathy, helping every family member feel seen, heard, and understood in the moment.
-
PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy) isn’t just for couples—it can also help families build safer, stronger connections. In family sessions, I use PACT principles to help each member feel seen, understood, and regulated in their nervous system, which reduces tension and conflict. By observing real-time interactions, guiding healthy communication, and creating safety in the relationship, PACT helps families shift unhelpful patterns and build trust, understanding, and lasting connection.

WHY I LOVE FAMILY THERAPY
I’ve had the privilege of doing deep group work through the School of Lost Borders and facilitating restorative justice circles, experiences that showed me the power of listening, witnessing, and holding space for multiple voices at once. This work informs my approach to family therapy: I help each member feel seen, heard, and understood, while guiding the family toward connection, understanding, and healing together. I love helping families discover their own strengths and build relationships that feel safe and supportive.
